Who is Lisa?

Lisa Hogan is a genre-defying composer whose music spans pop, jazz, art song, electroacoustic landscapes, and new-romantic instrumentals. Often described as eclectic—a word that trails her work like a signature—Lisa brings an expansive sensibility to every composition she undertakes.

After years performing and writing in the contemporary pop world, she turned to deeper compositional exploration, earning her M.A. in Music Composition from the City University of New York’s Aaron Copland School of Music. Her concert music has found life across continents: her recent piece for flute and tuba is featured on a CD from PhasmaMusic, performed by Dr. Iwona Glinka; two of her art songs, set to poems by Robert Creeley, premiered in New York City in February.

In Belgium, her piano work was featured in Women of the World – In the Footsteps of Stravinsky (Oct 2022), performed by Charlotte Boquet and Charlotte Otte. Her She holds an A.B. in English from Cornell University, studied vocal pedagogy with the New York Singing Teachers’ Association, and has taught at both the City University of New York and the State University of New Jersey.
